The Central Electoral Commission has denied Ion Ceban's claims about the theft of ballots in the local elections of 2023, considering them manipulative.

The CEC firmly reacted to the accusations of the mayor of Chișinău, Ion Ceban (photo), who claimed that ballot papers were stolen during the local elections of 2023. Representatives of the Commission stated that the images presented by Ceban do not reflect reality and are an attempt to manipulate public opinion. The CEC emphasized that the elections were held in conditions of transparency, with adequate monitoring. The authority called for compliance with legal norms by all electoral competitors and warned against disinformation.
