Anthropic has signed an agreement with SpaceX to utilize the computing power of the Colossus 1 facility in Memphis, Tennessee, which has over 220,000 Nvidia processors. This partnership will allow the company to enhance its AI assistants Claude Pro and Claude Max, providing them with 300 megawatts of electrical capacity. The agreement was announced during Anthropic's developer day, which showcased a new feature called 'dreaming', allowing AI systems to review activity between sessions and update user preferences.
Musk decided to collaborate with Anthropic after being impressed by their commitment to developing beneficial AI for humanity. At the same time, he has sued OpenAI, claiming that CEO Sam Altman attempted to 'steal charity' and that the organization has deviated from its original mission. Musk, who co-founded OpenAI, stated that he created the organization out of concern that AI could threaten humanity, following a conversation with Google co-founder Larry Page.
In the context of these tensions, other tech companies like Microsoft and Google have signed agreements with the U.S. government to allow testing of their AI tools, while Anthropic has not been included in these partnerships.
