Romania opens the Romanian Center of Excellence in Quantum Technologies, coordinated by the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, to develop cybersecurity solutions.

Romania is making significant progress in the field of quantum computing by opening the Romanian Center of Excellence in Quantum Technologies (RExQTCS), coordinated by the Polytechnic University of Bucharest.

This center aims to develop solutions for improving cybersecurity, considering that quantum computers could solve complex problems in a much shorter time than traditional computers.

Professor Mihai Udrescu emphasizes that these computers could rapidly simulate molecular interactions, but they could also compromise current security methods. Rector Mihnea Costoiu states that this project will create a research ecosystem in cities such as Cluj, Iași, Timișoara, and Craiova, contributing to the formation of a community of specialists recognized at the European level.

The Polytechnic University has invested in the development of quantum research for over 10 years, already having a master's program in the field.
