OpenAI has announced the launch of parental controls for ChatGPT, available on web and mobile, in response to a lawsuit filed by the parents of a teenager who committed suicide. The feature allows linking accounts between parents and teenagers, with the activation of measures possible only with the consent of both parties. Options include limiting exposure to sensitive content and restricting access during certain time periods. Parents will not have direct access to the transcripts of discussions, but can receive notifications in case of serious risks. OpenAI is also developing an age prediction system to apply appropriate settings for minors.
