The AI system, called Threat Matrix, will monitor over half a billion social media posts, excluding comments. About 16 years would be needed to read all the posts, which will include the names of more than 15,000 athletes and 2,000 officials. The move comes amid a rise in online abuse of elite sport, including at the Olympics.
