The new quantum system, dubbed IBM Quantum Starling, is projected to be operational by 2029, years ahead of what many experts thought possible. IBM estimates that Starling will be able to perform 20,000 times more operations than today's quantum machines, entering a computational domain so huge that it would require more memory than 10⁴⁸ of today's supercomputers combined.
