Google's Vice President, Anthony Chavez, stated that the Privacy Sandbox technology, launched in 2019 as a replacement for cookies in the Chrome browser, will be withdrawn due to low adoption. Although it initially promised to enhance user privacy by limiting third-party access to data, Google faced criticism from users and authorities who accused the company of a lack of transparency.

Despite the withdrawal of the Privacy Sandbox brand and technology, Google intends to use the lessons learned from this project to continue improving user privacy protection.
