Google's Vice President, Anthony Chavez, stated that the Privacy Sandbox technology, launched in 2019 as a replacement for cookies in the Chrome browser, will be withdrawn due to low adoption. Although it initially promised to enhance user privacy by limiting third-party access to data, Google faced criticism from users and authorities who accused the company of a lack of transparency.

Despite the withdrawal of the Privacy Sandbox brand and technology, Google intends to use the lessons learned from this project to continue improving user privacy protection.

Nicușor Dan, reaction after the Recorder documentary: "The easiest thing is to revolt, once again, and to throw the blame generically. It is much harder to actually solve the problems in justice. There must also be an assumption within the profession."
