A team of researchers from Peking University has created an analog chip that surpasses the performance of the latest graphics processing units (GPUs) from Nvidia and AMD by 1,000 times. This chip could revolutionize fields such as artificial intelligence and 6G technology, addressing issues related to energy consumption and data processing. The study published in the journal Nature Electronics shows that the chip has managed to be as accurate as standard digital processors while consuming 100 times less energy. This innovation is important in the context of the increasing volume of data, where digital computers face difficulties. Although analog technology has been neglected in the digital age, the chip could be improved in the future to further enhance performance.
