Zelensky and Erdogan establish "new steps" in security cooperation

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced that he has agreed with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on 'new steps' in security cooperation, with details to be established by the teams of both parties.

Zelensky emphasized that this partnership will focus on Turkey's support in areas such as expertise, technology, and experience. Erdogan reaffirmed Ankara's commitment to support negotiations between Ukraine and Russia to end the conflict. The two leaders also discussed joint projects in the gas sector, including infrastructure and the development of reserves.

Turkey, as a NATO member state, has maintained relations with both sides and hosted the first peace negotiations in 2022.

In recent months, Ukraine has signed cooperation agreements in the field of security with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, and continues discussions with other states in the Middle East.
