President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of loyalty to the Communist Party among the members of the People's Liberation Army of China during a plenary meeting of the military delegation. This statement comes in the context of the anti-corruption campaign that Xi has been leading for over a decade, a campaign that has particularly targeted the military, including the dismissal of high-ranking generals.

Analysts suggest that this campaign not only improves military discipline but also allows Xi to eliminate potential rivals and ensure the loyalty of his subordinates. Recently,

the National People's Congress dismissed nine military officers, including from the Central Military Commission, and three generals were removed from the political advisory body, thus strengthening Xi's control over the armed forces.
