At an open day in Berlin, Wadephul said the United States must participate in security guarantees for Ukraine, but other countries are essential. He emphasized that these guarantees should be similar to those offered within NATO to enable Ukraine to defend itself effectively. Wadephul expressed the hope that Russia could be persuaded to negotiate a peace agreement, but stressed that any agreement must not be dictated to Ukraine's disadvantage.
