A migrant camp in Ceuta was set on fire by protesters / They demand the return of migrants to Morocco

A migrant camp in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, located in northern Africa, was set on fire on Thursday by protesters demonstrating against the security conditions in the area. The protesters are demanding the return of migrants to Morocco, and images from Benitez beach show civilians throwing migrants' belongings into the fire. The police intervened to separate the demonstrators from the migrants, who retreated to a breakwater.

Up to 80,000 migrants entered Ceuta from Morocco at the end of July, and at least 96 people died in the process. Although many migrants have returned to Morocco, several thousand remain in Ceuta.

The conservative opposition in Spain is calling for the return of the migrants, but international legislation prohibits collective deportations. The Spanish government, led by Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, is facing increasing pressure due to this crisis. Prime Minister Sanchez will address the issue in parliament next week.
