Viktor Orbán stated that Hungary has no viable alternatives to Russian oil imports, contrary to the demands from Donald Trump and other EU states. Although the European Union decided to abandon Russian oil in 2022, Hungary and Slovakia received exemptions due to their dependence on these resources. Orbán emphasized that the American president respects national sovereignty and did not explicitly ask Hungary to stop importing Russian oil. The EU considers imposing tariffs as a solution to address this issue.
