The organizers of the 'Un'Estate da Re' festival have cancelled the concert conducted by Valery Gergiev, a close friend of Vladimir Putin, due to international pressure and the boycott imposed after the invasion of Ukraine. The Anti-Corruption Foundation, which is associated with opposition figure Aleksei Navalnyi, welcomed the decision, stressing that Gergiev should not be promoted in Europe. The conductor, known for his constant support for the Russian regime, has already been boycotted by several Western orchestras.
