The US Secretary of Transportation has announced that Mexico has violated the bilateral aviation agreement by cutting flight slots and relocating cargo operators, causing losses to US companies. The DOT could reject Mexico's flight applications and withdraw antitrust immunity for the Delta-Air Mexico partnership. The former Mexican president justified the measures as necessary because of overcrowding at the main airport. US transportation associations warn the Mexican restrictions set a dangerous precedent.
