The US State Department plans to implement a pilot program that will require financial guarantees of up to $15,000 from visa applicants from countries with high overstay rates. This comes in the context of tightening visa requirements, including additional interviews for renewals. Guarantees will not be required for citizens from countries participating in the Visa Waiver Program. The official announcement will be published in the Federal Register and the list of affected countries will be available at a later date.
