The US State Department has announced sanctions against Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel and other regime leaders in response to the regime's brutality against demonstrators. The sanctions include visa restrictions for officials involved in the crackdown on protests in July 2021. A Havana hotel has also been included on the list of places off-limits to Americans to prevent regime funding. The Cuban foreign minister rejected the sanctions, saying they would not change the will of the Cuban people.
