Hurricane Erick, a category 4 hurricane, is approaching the coast of Mexico, with wind gusts of up to 230 km/h and risks of flash flooding.

Hurricane Erick, which has become an extremely dangerous category 4 storm, is making landfall 145 km southeast of Punta Maldonado, Mexico. With wind gusts up to 230 km/h, the hurricane could cause flash flooding in southern Mexico. Expected to make landfall in the next few hours, Erick is the first hurricane of the season, which is expected to be active with between eight and 11 hurricanes, four to six of which will become major hurricanes.
