Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson signed a letter of intent in Linkoping, Sweden, for the acquisition of 100 to 150 next-generation Gripen fighter jets. Kristersson emphasized the importance of this agreement for the defense industry, mentioning that the Gripen E model aircraft will contribute to the formation of a new Ukrainian air force. The delivery of the first aircraft could begin in the next three years. Zelensky stated that Gripen aircraft are a priority for the Ukrainian army. Previously, Sweden had suspended the delivery of Gripen to Ukraine, favoring American F-16 jets.
