Volodymyr Zelensky stated that efforts are being made to resume negotiations that could lead to the end of the war and the resumption of prisoner exchanges. Rustem Umerov, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, announced that, with the help of mediators from Turkey and the United Arab Emirates, discussions have been held to activate the agreements from Istanbul, which provide for the release of 1,200 Ukrainians.

Zelensky mentioned that, since the beginning of the Russian invasion, 5,857 Ukrainians have been released. Umerov emphasized that technical discussions for the details of the next exchange will take place soon, with the hope that the released Ukrainians will be able to celebrate Christmas and New Year at home.
