Two South Korean skiers, Han Dasom and Lee Eui-jin, were disqualified from the Winter Olympics after their equipment tested positive for fluor, a type of wax banned by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS). This wax, which provides a competitive advantage due to its water-repellent properties, has been banned starting with the 2023-24 season.
Although they were not medal favorites, the disqualification occurred in the context of broader allegations in Olympic skiing, including speculation about the use of hyaluronic acid to gain advantages. Athletes are subjected to strict controls to prevent modifications to ski suits, as any increase in their surface area can influence performance in competition.
