In Alaska, two Republican candidates named Dan Sullivan are competing for a seat in the Senate.

Dan S. Sullivan, the incumbent senator supported by former President Donald Trump, will face off in November against Dan J. Sullivan, another Republican.

The Democratic Party candidate is Mary Peltola, which simplifies the options for voters.

The Republican Party tried to exclude Dan J. Sullivan, arguing that his presence could create confusion and could divert votes from Dan S. Sullivan in favor of Peltola. However, the Alaska Supreme Court ruled that Dan J. Sullivan can remain in the race.

Additionally, Dan A. Sullivan, former mayor of Anchorage, has self-styled himself as "the original Sullivan" and has called on voters to support Dan S. Sullivan, the incumbent senator. Alaska, with an area twice the size of Texas, has a population of 740,000 residents.
