The Spanish authorities announced the rescue of two migrants who spent 15 days drifting in the Mediterranean Sea, trying to reach the Balearic Islands.

The two men, originally from North Africa, were found about 20 kilometers southwest of Mallorca and were transported to the hospital, showing symptoms of dehydration and malnutrition. According to their accounts, 17 people traveling with them disappeared along the way. Maritime rescue services deployed a helicopter to search for the other missing persons, but there is no evidence regarding their fate.

The regional president of the Popular Party, Marga Prohens, has called on the central government to develop a plan to address the migration crisis, as the Balearic Islands are becoming an increasingly frequented route for migrants from North Africa. This situation comes after a recent migration crisis in Ceuta, where 50,000 migrants entered the Spanish enclave.
