American President Donald Trump warned his Venezuelan counterpart, Nicolas Maduro, that it would be "foolish" to relinquish power, in the context of the United States intensifying pressure on Caracas. Trump emphasized that Maduro has the freedom to decide, but mentioned that his harsh actions could have serious consequences. The U.S. is deploying a "massive army" in the Caribbean and has recently imposed blockades on Venezuelan oil tankers.

Maduro, on the other hand, criticized the attention Trump is giving to Venezuela, suggesting that he should focus on internal issues in the United States. Russia has expressed support for Maduro, denouncing U.S. actions as a threat to international order. Maduro accused Washington of "state piracy" and denied any involvement in drug trafficking, claiming that the U.S. aims to seize Venezuela's oil resources.
