Trump proposed the Peace Council for the first time in September last year, when he announced his plan to end the war in Gaza. Subsequently, he clarified that the Council's responsibilities would be extended beyond Gaza to address other conflicts around the world. The U.S. President will be the first president of the Council, which will have the task of promoting peace worldwide and working to resolve conflicts.

A senior White House official stated on Wednesday that 35 world leaders have committed so far to join the Peace Council, out of approximately 50 invitations sent. American President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday, during the summit in Davos, that his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin has "accepted" his invitation to join the "Peace Council"
