President Donald Trump intends to build an 'Arc of Independence' in Washington, D.C., with a height of 250 feet, more than twice as tall as the Lincoln Memorial and more imposing than the White House. Anonymous sources told The Washington Post that Trump considers this size a symbol of national pride, in the context of the 250th anniversary of America's independence. Although he has considered smaller versions of the arch, he prefers the largest option, arguing that it will leave a lasting impression on visitors. The arch is expected to be located along the Potomac River, but architects and conservationists are concerned that such a large structure could dominate the historic landscape of the capital. The White House has not provided details about the design or timeline for the construction of the arch, and funding may come from private donations. If approved, the construction would require extensive federal reviews, including approval from the National Park Service and other agencies. Trump has also expanded the White House ballroom project, which will occupy 90,000 square feet, generating controversy regarding the legality of the construction.
