US President Donald Trump has decided to impose additional tariffs of 40% on Brazilian products, raising the total surtax to 50%. The move comes in retaliation for the prosecution of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, accused of attempted coup. Trump has characterized the trial as a "witch hunt". In addition, the US imposed sanctions on Brazilian judge Alexandre de Moraes, accused of arbitrary detentions. The Brazilian government condemned the sanctions as unjustified.
