Trump changes his tone towards Meloni at the NATO Summit: "She is a decent person, actually"

American President Donald Trump seemed to change his tone regarding Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni during statements made on Tuesday in Ankara at the NATO Summit.

The relationship between the two has recently deteriorated after Trump claimed that Meloni "begged" him for a photo at the G7 Summit, which the Italian Prime Minister denied, accusing him of fabrications. In his statements, Trump acknowledged that he had a "bad relationship" with Meloni, mentioning that she refused to help the U.S. in the Strait of Hormuz. However, he described her as a "nice person" and emphasized that his disappointment stems from Italy's lack of involvement.

At the same time, the head of Italian diplomacy stated that the government in Rome will no longer respond to the provocative comments of the American president, emphasizing that Trump "speaks for himself" and that Italy has decided not to fuel disputes among allies.
