American President Donald Trump announced through his social media platform, Truth Social, that he will impose a 25% increase in tariffs on cars and trucks imported from the European Union, starting next week. This decision comes as a result of the claim that the EU is not adhering to the agreed trade agreement. Trump specified that the measure will exclude manufacturers who produce their vehicles on American soil, emphasizing that there will be no tariffs for them. He highlighted that currently, numerous auto factories are under construction in the U.S., with investments exceeding 100 billion dollars, a historic record for the auto sector. The decision could have a significant impact on major European automakers, such as Volkswagen AG, Mercedes-Benz Group AG, and BMW AG, which rely heavily on the American market.
