American President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that a memorandum of understanding regarding a peace agreement with Iran is 'largely negotiated', which would allow the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial maritime passage. Trump mentioned on social media that the final details of the agreement are under discussion and will be announced soon.

However, the Iranian news agency Fars contested the claim, arguing that the agreement would allow Iran to manage the strait, considering Trump's statements as 'incompatible with reality'. Additionally, the New York Times reported that the agreement would include a commitment from Iran to abandon highly enriched uranium, but details on how the stock will be relinquished would be discussed later.

Iran confirmed that it is working on a memorandum of understanding to end the war, with the help of Pakistani mediators, and the progress has been described as 'encouraging'. The proposed agreement is expected to unfold in three stages, including the official end of the war and resolving the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz.
