Nearly 25 years after the September 11 attacks, the reconstruction of the World Trade Center complex is nearing completion, with the start of construction for Tower 2 scheduled for this spring. This skyscraper, standing 374 meters tall, will be located at 200 Greenwich Street and will become the new headquarters of American Express. The project, developed by Silverstein Properties, will include 55 floors and nearly 186,000 square meters of space, mostly intended for offices for up to 10,000 employees.
It is estimated that the project will create over 3,200 construction jobs and will contribute nearly 6 billion dollars to New York's economy, strengthening Downtown Manhattan as a global business hub. American Express will integrate advanced smart building technologies and will pursue LEED green certification. The completion of the tower is expected in 2031, thus completing the modern World Trade Center campus.
