On May 9, on the occasion of Victory Day, the Ministry of Digitalization of Russia will impose total restrictions on the functioning of mobile internet and the sending of SMS messages in Moscow, to ensure the security of festive events. Authorities promise that fixed internet and Wi-Fi networks will remain operational.
Additionally, no restrictions are planned for May 7 and 8, but the ministry warns that, in case of threats to security, operational measures may be applied. In recent days, users in the Leningrad region have reported interruptions in mobile internet, and on May 5, authorities invoked security measures due to the risks of drone attacks from Ukraine. The Ministry of Defense of Russia announced a unilateral ceasefire for May 8 and 9, but warned that it will react if Ukraine disrupts the festivities.
