Tom Homan, the immigration advisor to President Donald Trump, was sent to Minneapolis after the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti, the American citizen who worked as a medical assistant in the intensive care unit of the Veterans Administration in Minneapolis. The incident has generated tensions and bipartisan criticism, especially due to unfounded claims by officials that Pretti had attempted an act of terrorism.

Homan, known as the "border czar," has extensive experience in law enforcement and has been a vocal supporter of the Trump administration's controversial immigration policies, including family separation. His sending to Minnesota suggests a possible shift in the administration's approach to managing immigration, in the context of internal disputes regarding the implementation of these policies. Homan has worked under six presidents and led deportation efforts during the Obama administration, playing a central role in current immigration policies.
