Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated during a visit to Ecuador that the U.S. will take drastic measures against foreign criminal groups, including attacks, if necessary. He announced that the gangs Los Lobos and Los Choneros will be designated as terrorist organizations. Rubio emphasized the increase in violence caused by criminal gangs in Ecuador and mentioned that the U.S. will provide financial assistance to combat drug trafficking.
