The United States has announced the advancement of the plan to create the corridor named 'Trump's Path to International Peace and Prosperity' (TRIPP), which will connect Azerbaijan with the Nakhchivan enclave through Armenian territory. American Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed this plan during a meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan. The TRIPP corridor is the result of an agreement signed last year in Washington, under the auspices of former President Donald Trump, aimed at resolving the long-standing territorial dispute between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
An American-majority company will build the necessary infrastructure, and the project is seen as an opportunity to facilitate U.S. investments in the area, considering access to critical mineral resources. Rubio emphasized that this agreement could become a global model for economic development without compromising national sovereignty. However, Iran opposes the formation of the corridor, fearing a reduction of its regional influence. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the security of the corridor will be ensured by Armenia, not by an external power. The conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, particularly around the Nagorno-Karabakh region, has led to two wars, and Azerbaijan has recently reclaimed territories from Armenian separatists.
