General Alexus Grynkewich, the supreme commander of the allied forces in Europe, announced that the United States expects European NATO allies and Canada to quickly increase the number of aircraft and military ships, as Washington reduces its capabilities in these areas.
This statement came after the Trump administration's decision to reduce the reserve of military capabilities available for NATO. The U.S. informed allies last month about the reduction of contributions to the NATO Force Model, without providing specific details.
Grynkewich stated that allies should increase their contributions regarding military aircraft and ships, as the current dependence on American capabilities is too high. It is also estimated that the number of American fighter jets available for NATO will decrease by a third, and Europe will need to provide its own reconnaissance drones.
