Colombian President Gustavo Petro stated that the United States bombed a cocaine factory in the port city of Maracaibo, Venezuela, suspecting that coca paste is mixed there to produce drugs. Donald Trump confirmed the attack, mentioning that it took place off the coast of Venezuela, in the area where drug ships are loaded. Petro suggested that the facility belongs to the guerrilla group National Liberation Army (ELN), which partially controls the Catatumbo region, known for cocaine production. The Venezuelan government has not commented on the attack, while the U.S. continues to pressure Nicolás Maduro's regime, accusing him of running a drug cartel. So far, the U.S. has carried out over 30 attacks against ships suspected of drug trafficking, resulting in nearly 107 deaths in the region.
