The decree was published in the Royal Gazette, highlighting that the dissolution of the House of Representatives is necessary to allow for new elections to be organized. Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the conservative Bhumjaithai party, came to power in September, following the ousting of his predecessor, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, due to the inefficient management of the crisis with Cambodia. Although the prime minister had committed to dissolving Parliament by early 2026, the dissolution occurred earlier than anticipated, amid escalating conflict with Cambodia, which led to loss of life and displacements. The Royal Gazette mentioned that the minority government cannot effectively manage state affairs, which is why it was decided to organize new elections.
