The owner of the Indian company Sresan Pharmaceutical has been arrested after 17 children died due to cough syrup contaminated with toxic diethylene glycol.

Sresan Pharmaceutical has been involved in a serious scandal after the cough syrup, ''Coldrif'', led to the death of 17 children in India, all under five years old, due to the toxic content of diethylene glycol, nearly 500 times higher than the acceptable limit. The owner of the company, S. Ranganathan, has been arrested and will be tried for violating safety regulations.
