The Louvre Museum in Paris has announced that it will remain closed on Monday, a day after a robbery in which jewelry valued as 'priceless' was stolen. According to a museum spokesperson, tourists waiting in front of the iconic pyramid were escorted outside by security agents. A red panel was installed to inform visitors that the museum is closed 'for exceptional reasons' and that those who booked tickets for that day will receive a refund.
The robbery took place on Sunday morning, when a group of criminals managed to break into the museum by smashing a display case with abrasive discs, after climbing onto a balcony with the help of a lift. So far, neither the thieves nor the stolen jewelry have been found, except for a crown abandoned at the scene.
