Hungary: Peter Magyar announced the opening of the communist archives and an investigation into post-communist privatizations.

Peter Magyar, the future Prime Minister of Hungary, declared on Tuesday that his government will completely open the archives from the communist period and will initiate an investigation to identify the beneficiaries of the privatizations that took place after the fall of the pro-Soviet regime. The Tisza party, led by Magyar, won the legislative elections on April 12, promising a "system change".

On May 9, Magyar will take over the leadership of the new executive and has announced significant reforms. He discussed with the director of the Historical Archives about lifting the secrecy on the files of the agents and the records from the communist period, planning to make these archives accessible to the public on October 22, on the anniversary of the Hungarian revolution of 1956.

Additionally, an investigative committee will be established to investigate the looting during the privatizations of the economy between 1988 and 2000. Magyar emphasized that the deputies of his party will not work in the building that belonged to the communist secret police.
