The European Commission's report shows that, although customs controls have increased, the expansion of electronic commerce exceeds the implementation of control measures. Commissioner Maros Sefcovic emphasized the importance of cooperation between customs authorities and market surveillance authorities to prevent the entry of non-compliant products into the EU. The ongoing customs reform negotiations will introduce a new customs authority and a data platform for more efficient risk management, ensuring a fair business environment and protecting consumers.
