The Cucuteni–Trypillia civilization has made a significant step towards international recognition by being included on the UNESCO World Heritage Indicative List. The National Institute of Heritage announced that this civilization will be inscribed as a transnational serial position on Romania's Indicative List, as well as on those of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.

This initiative, carried out within a transnational working group, aims at a remarkable cultural phenomenon from European prehistory, having exceptional universal value. The Cucuteni–Trypillia civilization, active between 5000 and 3300 BC, is recognized for its painted pottery and complex settlements, which reflect an advanced social organization. The seven sites included in the nomination underline the importance of local heritage on the European cultural map. The endeavor was initiated by Romania in 2017 and has benefited from the support of several institutions from the three countries. The President of Neamț County Council, Daniel Vasilică Harpa, emphasized the importance of this recognition and the commitment to promote and protect this cultural heritage.
