The Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) announced the closure of the Streameast site, which allowed access to illegal sports broadcasts, having over 1.6 billion visits in a year. This action was carried out in collaboration with the police in Egypt, where two suspects were arrested and equipment used to operate the site was confiscated. ACE emphasized the importance of this victory in combating digital piracy, in the context where high broadcasting rights costs contribute to the increase of illegal broadcasts. Experts warn that, although the closure is a positive step, long-term solutions must include the accessibility of live sports.
