John Ratcliffe, the director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the USA, had a meeting with Delcy Rodriguez, the interim president of Venezuela, in Caracas, according to the New York Times. This meeting was ordered by President Donald Trump to convey the United States' desire to improve relations with Venezuela. The discussions included collaboration between intelligence services, economic stability, and preventing Venezuela from becoming a refuge for drug traffickers. Delcy Rodriguez, an ally of President Nicolas Maduro, has previously been involved in negotiations with American officials for a possible power transition.
The White House also mentioned that Rodriguez has met Washington's requirements, and Trump is pleased with the progress made. The United States recently completed a sale of Venezuelan oil, suggesting an opening in trade relations.
