Switzerland launches a campaign to educate tourists about local customs

The national tourism department of Switzerland, SwissTourism, has initiated a campaign aimed at foreign visitors, with the goal of informing them about basic etiquette rules to prevent tensions with locals.

The director of SwissTourism, Martin Nydegger, stated that many tourists from distant markets are not familiar with Swiss customs. The campaign includes animated videos that will be broadcast during flights of the national airline Swiss, offering tips such as asking for permission before photographing locals, respecting silence in cemeteries and churches, and avoiding entering private properties. Recommendations for behavior in public transport are also included, such as waiting in line and maintaining cleanliness. The slogan of the campaign is "Travel with care, take memories with you," and it will be visible in areas affected by overtourism, such as Jungfrau and Lucerne, where the number of tourists far exceeds the local population.
