Sweden will allocate 4 billion crowns for military drones, including reconnaissance drones and long-range loitering munitions, highlighting the need for European responsibility in security.

Sweden will invest approximately 4 billion crowns (374 million euros) in the acquisition of drones for the armed forces, according to Defense Minister Pål Jonson. This investment will include reconnaissance drones, electronic warfare drones, and loitering munitions, also known as kamikaze drones. Additionally, maritime drones for mine clearance and surveillance will be purchased. Deliveries are scheduled to take place over the next two years. Sweden will also allocate 1.3 billion crowns (121.5 million euros) to enhance space capabilities by adding ten military satellites. Furthermore, Sweden recently announced an investment of 15 billion crowns in ground-based air defense.

Jonson emphasized the deteriorating security situation and called on Europe to take greater responsibility for its own security and for Ukraine, in the context of increasing threats from Russia and the unpredictability of the United States.
