Sweden will ban payment for live sex content on platforms such as OnlyFans from July 1, 2025, continuing the Nordic model that criminalizes the purchase of sexual services. The law aims to protect vulnerable people, but raises questions about its effectiveness in protecting sex workers and its impact on virtual sex work. Critics suggest the law could further isolate sex workers, especially migrants, and that enforcement will be difficult.
