The U.S. Department of Labor announced that in May, the number of jobs created by employers increased by 172,000, exceeding economists' expectations who anticipated only 85,000 new jobs. The data for April was revised upward, indicating 179,000 jobs created.

The unemployment rate remained steady at 4.3% for the third consecutive month. Job creation was influenced by tax incentives and a positive revision of previous employment, with 93,000 jobs added in March and April.

The local sector contributed 55,000 jobs, while restaurants and bars added 48,000. Despite the increase in employment, wage gains were modest, with a 0.3% increase in May, aligning with the Federal Reserve's inflation target of 2%. This situation suggests that the Fed may keep interest rates unchanged until 2027.
