The protest began in several US cities, with cafes closed in Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, Seattle, Columbus, Denver and Pittsburgh. Negotiations with the union have reached an impasse and Workers United warned the strike could reach hundreds of locations by Christmas Eve. The company operates more than 11,000 coffee shops in the US.
